Zur boot.msg: Ich hab die Datei mit vi geöffnet, man konnte also nicht sehen wann das war.
ups, hatte ich übersehen.Was nicht ok im Verzeichnis von /boot in deinem Beitrag #31 ist, ist dass da die initrd 2.6.17.13 fehlt, der Verweis geht scheinbar ins Leere.

Grub, und Kernel über Symlink vmlinuz, da braucht er menu.lst nicht ändern. Die menu.lst steht aber auch irgendwo im Thread.guck mal nach ob in /grub/menu.lst oder in /etc/lilo.conf überhaupt der neue Kernel eingetragen ist.

nicht nötig, wenn man nur einen neuen Kernel compiliert (ist bei Lilo anders).grub mit > root (hd0,X-1) > setup (hd0) > quit laufen lassen
was passiert (bei diesem Provider) wenn man das vergißt? Kann man dann nur nicht mehr rebooten oder funktioniert auch das Rescue nicht mehr?
