Mein Server steht bei der Firma www.netdirekt.net und habe es von meinen ganz alten Server gezogen P450Mhz und 256MB Ram ^^ . Im Rechenzentrum Tele City .

Also ich hab letzten Mittwoch mir auch mal den Root für 34€ bestellt.
Donnerstag war er dann da. Hab mich erstmal tierisch gefreut das es so schnell ging.
Jedoch dann die Überraschung: Ich gleich mal geschaut wie den das Trace und Ping so ist: Trace 5hops, Ping 60-100ms.
Dacht ich mir: Na Klasse, fürn A**** (Soll ja ein oder zwei Gameserver drauf)
Freitag dann doch mal CS installiert und nochmal Ping gecheckt: 16-18ms ich total happy. Gleich mal ein Tool installiert das ne Ping Statistik erstellt und über nacht bis Samstag ca 14 Uhr laufen lassen. Fazit: Ping ziemlich konstant bei 16ms.
ALso weiter CS installiert und Server gestartet. Ping immernoch ok.
Dann kommen die ersten drauf und dann überraschts mich völlig. Bei ca 4-6 Leuten fängt der Server höllisch das laggen an obwohl der Ping immernoch ok ist und die CPU Last bei ca 10% ist (Plugins: Metamod, AMXX nur Standart Plugins)
Ich also Server abgeschalten und nochmal die Settings überpürft und alles ok, also die Plugins abgeschalten: Das gleiche!
Nun ist der Ping wieder bei konstanten 60-80ms d.h. In-Game ca bei 80-100.
Werd den Server also wieder kündigen da der Server definitv NICHT Gameserver tauglich ist.
PS: Zudem steht im Powerpanel das ich "nur" 2000GB habe obwohl ne Flat bestellt wurde

S4Y hat auch noch Räume in Frankfurt angemietet. Dort stehen die Server genau wie die von netdirekt oder auch Starhosting (laut dir) in Colocation Räumen von Avaya.

Ja, hab zuhause eine billige RocketRAID 1640 Karte. Die würde ich nicht wieder kaufen. Mit den Standard-Treibern erkennt Linux alle Platten einzeln... Mit dem richtigen Modul wird das RAID erkannt, bei Zugriff darauf ist die Prozessorlast jedoch verdächtig hoch...
Dann wie gesagt lieber ein sauberes SW-RAID, welches man über /proc/mdstat überwachen kann und das keine proprietären Module benötigt, die beim nächsten Kernelupdate eh nicht mehr funktionieren.
Weiterer Vorteil vom SW-RAID: Man kann die Partitionen verkleinern und ein Teil des Speichers beispielsweise als RAID 0 nutzen.

As I did not want to take a server from S4Y, I searched for alternatives. A very good one I found was http://www.keyweb.de/keyweb/english.shtml . THEY offer a "dFlat". As I did not know what that was, I asked the support. They told me that it is a TRUE 100Mbit Flatrate, without dynamic throtteling or 10Mbit reduction at all. As they have several dependencies in other countries, I assume that it might not be a too big task to do business with you (if you are located in Italy, there might be trouble getting a contract although we all are in the EU.
