Am 12 diesen Monat habe ich meinen Server geschaltet bekommen, und schon 2x Down. Kündigung folgt noch Heute

Today some of the air conditioning in the Interxion FRA2 datacenter failed
at around 10:30 and that caused a steady rise of the ambient temperature
which reached around 40 degrees at 14:00 at which point our coreswitch raised
a minor temperature alarm at 14:04 and a major temperature alarm at 14:18
and at 14:20 two of the six linecards in the switch failed simultaneously.

That in turn caused the uplink interface between the coreswitch and
the core router to fail and that triggered a routing daemon crash
that caused all interfaces and all BGP sessions to drop and left the
router to be stuck in a state where it was trying to reestablish the
BGP sessions again. This process was working unnaturally slow and crashed
a second time at 15:41.

At around 15:30 the temperature was started to drop slowly and one alarm
after the other and one error pattern after the other vanished until all
interfaces came back up and stayed up.

We are currently working with Force10 and Juniper to see if there's a
possibility of restricting the impact of temperature alarms, maybe by
taking unneeded ports offline in advance when a temperature alarm is
detected.

Eher mit den vorherigen Ausfällen. Zu dem Zeitpunkt des Posts war noch nicht bekannt, dass es ein Klimaproblem war.

Ist doch bei manchen Anbietern Mode alle paar Wochen komplett die Grätsche zu machen.

Und wenn da ne Katze in den Router pinkelt... Down Show ist down Show.

Bei manchen steht die Show nunmal mehrmals im Jahr fest im Programm wie es scheint.

Das kann man auch nicht wegdiskutieren.

Ich hab da bei dem Anbieter nix. Aber was ich mich bei der Schilderung des o.g. Problems frage: was bitte ist zwischen 10.30 und 14.00 Uhr passiert!? NIX???

Da müssen doch viel früher schon die Temperatur-Alarmglocken des Serverraums geschrillt haben, 40 Grad, Mensch!!!

+1 sehe ich auch so.
naja hab jetzt eine neue IP die zwar auch übers link11 geht, aber on-the-fly falls link11 ausfällt übers lambdanet usw
