Seek_Error_Rate variiert sprunhaft

Ich habe da auf einem Hetzner-Root eine Western Digital WDC WD7500AALX-009BA0 im RAID. ich wer nicht schlau draus.
Deren Seek Error Rate springt seit 1½ Wochen ein paar Stunden lang von 100 auf 200 und dann ein paar Stunden wieder zurück.
Jedenfalls zeigt mir Munin das so an.
Auch im syslog zu finden, als Beipsiel:

Derzeit läuft noch ein long-Test mit Smartmon.

Platte hat ca. 27.000 h Betriebsdauer.

Diese Sprünge hatte die HD noch nie vorher.
HD Wechseln? Bevorstehender Ausfall? Kopfservo defekt?

SeekError sagt in sich selbst nicht viel aus, ausser dass die Platte Probleme hatte irgendwelche Inhalte beim ersten Versuch zu lesen. Ob aber die Platte tatsächlich beschädigt ist oder nur ein Techniker gerade im RZ rumbrüllt (**) ist dabei noch offen. Ich verlinke mal eine alte Antwort von mir:

Die Latenzzeit ist dabei eine direkte Reaktion aus seek- und read-Problemen.

Alle direkt alterungsbezogene Werte sind ohne Auffälligkeit.

@d4f Ich habe bislang auch keine Auffälligkeiten erkannt. Auch nicht im syslog. Und spätestens beim wöchentlichen checkarray würde ja was auffallen.

Danke für den Link zu S_E_R. War wohl zu unpraktisch beim Suchen.

Was brüllende Technikleute, pfeifende Alarmhörner oder Löschanlagen anbelangt, habe ich vom Einfluss schon gelesen und auf YT Videos dazu gesehen.
Ich glaube aber nicht dass im Hetzner-RZ sowas abgeht.
 
Techniker von Hetzner hat mit einem längeren Test beide Platten nach Herstellervorgaben getestet und sagt, das sie OK sind.

Es gibt wie gesagt keine Hinweise im Smart darauf dass irgendwas im Argen liefen würde. Solange nicht Kernel und/oder relevante Smart-Counter (reallocated_sector, spin_retry, ...) hoch schiessen würde ich keine Sorgen haben.
Angemerkt sei dass auch reallocated_sector sogar bei brandneuen Platten sprunghaft ansteigen können wenn ein kleiner Plattenteil herstellungsbedingt unbrauchbar ist und dieser erstmalig benutzt wird. Ein Wert ungleich null bedeutet also nicht Schrott, hier kommt es auf die Steigungsrate an.

Aka: Smart longtest und/oder surface read test :D Einen read-write Test schliesse ich aufgrund des damit einhergehenden Risikos auf Datenverlust oder Datenverlust (je nach Durchführungsmethode) aus.
Smart *ist* nach Herstellervorgabe da vom Controller selber gesteuert, also nach herstelleigenen Testverfahren.

Ich glaube aber nicht dass im Hetzner-RZ sowas abgeht.

@d4f Ich weiß ja was abgeht, wenn ein Platte stirbt, hatte ich ja auch schon mal, aber das war im Monitoring wirklich zu sehen.

Interpretation bei SMART ist manchmal fisselig, wenn eine nicht oft mit Festplatten arbeitet.
