VMware 2 auf Debian Lenny?

Hi Leute,

ich habe vor einen neuen dedi aufzusetzen und den Rest in VMs auszulagern.
Ich habe vor in den VMs auf Debian zu setzen.

Nun stelle ich mir die Frage, ob auch auf dem Host Debian Lenny installiert werden sollte, da VMware in seiner Doku Debian gar nicht als unterstütztes System aufführt:

64‐bit host computers can run the following operating systems for 64‐bit extended
systems:
Mandriva Corporate Server 4

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.0
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 4.5

und aufgrund dieser Aussage aus dem Handbuch bin ich verunsichert:
NOTE As new Linux kernels and distributions are released, VMware modifies and
tests its products for stability and reliability on those host platforms. VMware makes
every effort to add support for new kernels and distributions in a timely manner, but
until a kernel or distribution is added to the list, its use is not supported. Look for newer
prebuilt modules in the Download section of VMware Web site at
VMware Download Center for Datacenter Virtualization Products.

Habt Ihr da bereits Erfahrung mit, Debian insbesondere Lenny als HOST-System für Vmware 2 zu nutzen?
 
Funktioniert.

Rate dringend zu VMware Server 2 ansonsten kriegst du Lenny nicht als Gastsystem installiert. Hattest du zwar eh vor aber wollte es nur kurz einwerfen ;)

OK Danke. Instaliert Ihr im Gastsystem die original VMware Tools oder die open-vmware-tools die bei Lenny dabei sind?
