Hallo zusammen,

ich glaube, ich werde angegriffen :-)

Die vielen Zugriffe zwingen den Apache ziemlich in die Knie. Kann mir jemand einen Tipp geben, ob ich rausfinden kann, von wem diese Zugriffe kommen und wo diese genau hingehen? Ich habe derzeit oft mir Schwerlasten zu kämpfen und würde gerne rausfinden, was ich dagegen tun kann..n

Das sind normale "interne" Zugriffe des Apache, er beendet so Child-Prozesse, die ihre maximale Laufzeit erreicht haben ("MaximumRequestsPerChild" z.B.). Angriff ist das keiner (wie man auch an der Ziel-IP sehen kann).
 
Nicht 100%ig richtig erklärt aber der Effekt ist der Selbe.
Allerdings wird pro Dummy-Connection ein Apache-Thread angefragt. Und selten mehrfach pro Sekunde. D.h. entweder Du hast zu dem Zeitpunkt bereits eine hohe Last auf dem Server oder verdammt viele vor sich hin dösende Threads.

Ich denke ein allgemeiner Check ob Du evtl. zu viele Threads zulässt und ggf. über Deine Speichergrenze hinaus gehst wäre Angebracht.

Ehrlich gesagt bin ich nun etwas überfordert. Es liegen zwar ein paar TYPO3-Seiten auf diesem Server, aber die Maße an Zugriffen habe ich bei keiner dieser Seiten. Auffällig waren mir öfter mal die w00t-Anfragen.

Den Apache habe ich nach ein paar Recherchen versucht, etwas zu optimieren. Bin derzeit öfter mal dabei, diese Stellen umzukonfigurieren und das Ergebnis zu testen.

Seit gestern Abend läuft auch Zend Optimizer auf dem Server mit. Ich meine, dass dies auch deutliche Verbesserungen an den Ladezeiten zur Folge hat.

Wenn ich mir jedoch die Systemauslastung mit top ansehe, habe ich eigentlich selten eine geringe Auslastung. Hier die Auswertung, jedoch muss ich dazu sagen, dass ich den Server gerade vor einer Stunde neu gestartet habe und die Auslastung eigentlich konstant nach oben geht.

Ist das ein vServer oder ein Dedizierter?
Denn 0 buffers und 0 cached sehen mir verdammt seltsam aus.

Evtl. prüfst Du auch mal mit mod_status und "ExtendedStatus On" welches Script in erster Linie die Last zieht.

OK, dieser Tipp war gut, ich denke, ich habe rausgefunden, was diese Request verursacht und das ganze lahm legt. Auf dem Server läuft eine OpenSource-Bildergalerie namens Gallery2 für einen Bekannten von mir. Dieser hat seine Bilder recht groß (pro Bild ca. 200kB) reingeladen. Die Slideshow der Gallery hat diese Requests wohl verursacht und den Traffic enorm erhöht. Ich habe dieses Modul nun deaktiviert und meinen Bekannten gebeten, die Bilder mal fürs Web zu optimieren...
