Apache einrichten von Anfang an - How to gesucht

Ich habe mich dazu entschieden nun doch eine Homepage auf meinem Server anzubieten und möchte dafür nun die total zerschossene Konfiguration auf Vordermann bringen.
Von Confixx und Distupgrade schwer gezeichnet startet der Apache, mehr aber auch nicht.

Kennt Jemand ein Gutes Howto oder hat Lust das ganze mit mir durchzukauen?

Dazu ist noch zu sagen ich habe Confixx deinstalliert und möchte auch gar nicht auf die Idee kommen das ganze wieder zu installieren o.ä..
 
Ich kann die Frage auch so stellen wie alle anderen (überspitzt):

Poste mal deine total zerschossene httpd.conf bzw poste mal den Fehler den du beim Starten von Apache bekommst, das hilft manchmal ungemein :)

Zum Nachgucken, wenn man weiß was man will, Ja. Aber nicht wenn man neu ist, finde ich zumindest.

Ich bin immernoch genauso nass wie vorher. Stimmt vielleicht was an den virtual Hosts nicht?
 
Ja der läuft auch. Ich habe den Fehler auch gefunden glaube ich. Aber eigentlich weiß ich nicht was ich gemacht habe.
Und zwar habe ich die Datei in /etc/apache2/sites-available durch eine eigene selbstgebaute ersetzt. Verstehe aber dann immer noch nicht warum es vorher noch nicht ging und warum es jetzt geht.
 
Vielleicht erkennt man ja an der Datei was?!

Ist das was ich da gemacht habe richtig so? Gibt es noch wa Sinnvolles zu ergänzen?
Wie sieht es mit Sicherheit aus. Wie sicher ist mein Apache jetzt? Was kann man noch tun? Ich habe mal gelese man "sollte/könnte" den Apache in einem chroot-Käfig laufen lassen. Bringt das was oder ist das der Overkill?

Du kannst mit einem Sturzhelm spazieren gehen..bei einem Sturz bist du garantiert auf der sichereren Seite.. mal bildlich gesprochen... :)

@All: Das hier ist ein Paradebeispiel für die Idee unseres Ticketsystems, hier würde ich jetzt empfehlen: Hey das mit dem Apache kann man schnell lösen... Aber wir lösen natürlich auch hier mit gleichwertiger Produktivität weiter..

Ich bin kein Businesskunde. Ich unterhalte den Server rein privat.

Aber was anderes. Ich würde gerne einen Schutzhelm anziehen, ich denke so was steht mir. Was muss ich beachten und wie gehe ich am besten vor?
 
Er hat aber nie irgentwas zurück geschickt. Der Browser hatte immer ein Time Out.
